Default Gaffrig GPS Speedo question

I'm planning on switching my liquid filled speedo for a GPS unit (tired of replacing tubes). Looking at the Gaffrig catalog, it doesn't appear that they make a gps speedo the same size as the one that I have. Someone please tell me that I'm just missing it in the book. Also, I'm planning on replacing the compass with a Garmin gps/depthfinder (188c). Can I use one antenna for both?

See pic for the current one.

Thanks in advance,
Craig

They don't make it. I was going to put one in the 28 last year and needed to cut bigger holes in the dash panel. I didn't feel comfortable doing this myself.

They make a smaller one but it is too small for your existing hole. I ordered both, neither worked. I don't know why they don't make a replacement size.

Thanks Brandon, that sucks

No one has ever told me that my hole is too big before

I tried using the same antenna and it did not work. You are better off keeping them seperate and usinf their own antenna's.

Good luck.

Use the seperate antennas. As for cutting the hole out bigger a dremmel and a sand wheel will do it nicely just takes a while with it. mask off the outer edge of where the hole will be enlarged to and go for it. Also see if the antennas will wourk from being stuck under the cabin area. On a gps that we installed we mounted the antenna in the cabin and no recep problem as of yet.

They sell a bezel for use with the smaller GPS unit.
Here is the info from their catalog. Also if you want to widen an existing hole use two hole saws inside each other. Diameter of existing hole along with diameter of desired new hole. The smaller one will act as a guide for the new hole.

GPS bezel (3 3/8" ID, 4 1/2" OD) FLGPS + color $39
GPS spacer white GPSSW* $12
*Allows 3 5/8" and 4" cutouts to convert to 3 3/8" cutout

I used a Nordsgog. Right size, and it interfaces with the GPS (one antenna).

I have my Gafrig speedo interfacing with my Garmin. 1 antena. I think you hook up the Brown wire, it's in the directions. Then find the output section on your Garmin menu and change to NMEA. It all works perfect. I also used the bezel that Donzi38ZX talked about.

I used the same antenna and it never worked. Get a rotary file and put it in your drill. It cuts the glass really nice. Just be sure to keep the edge centered on the file.
