Post Maximize 500hp motors

I am looking for any input that can be given....I have a 33' fountain (no step)with twin 500hp(carb) and bravo 1 drives. I am looking to gain 3-4 miles per without messing with the motors. Max speed is between 82-84 off GPS, those are perfect conditions for that boat. I was looking for info on nose cones?, MSD Ignition? Gil exaust manifolds? and any other ideas that don't comprimise the durability of the engines. I want to make what I have more effecient???

thanks for the help!!!

Lab the props, you can pick up a couple of mph by doing that.

What about switching to 2" shorter IMCO lower units? Where are your propshafts now? What props are you running and do they ever blowout now?

You already have Gil exhaust, which is fine, labbing the props will help as long as you have rpm to go before rpm limit. I would look at going into the motor, a nice set of heads and camshaft change would really wake it up, it will actually give you power that you can feel. The heads should not hurt reliability, but increase it.

Thanks,
Dustin

And the option I ran into when I labbed my props, is change the pitch a little too. I was running 23's and labbing them would push my RPM's too high, so I had them labbed and repitched to 24's. $200 a prop.

But I agree with Dustin, If you want something you can feel, heads and cam.

I just added heads to HP500's in a 38. Ran 79 before. I'll keep you posted on what happens.
