Default OT: You think boating accessories/fuel are expensive?

Imagine the cool things that go with jet planes and your own hanger!!

Is this near anyone?

High-flying
A lot of neighborhoods don't allow the owners to park Boeing 707s outside
their homes, which is why actor John Travolta moved to Jumbolair, near Ocala.

OCALA -- It's not just another housing development, as you can tell by the
1.4-mile airstrip and the Boeing 707 parked next to one of the houses.

Located in the Central Florida town of Anthony, just north of Ocala, it's
called Jumbolair, and it's the new home of John Travolta -- '70s TV phenom,
film superstar, Oscar-nominated actor, sex symbol, accomplished pilot,
doting husband and father.

You can see his Gulfstream also. Nice heli pad there John. He spends more in fuel than I make in a year. Nice set but where is the hanger? You can't keep something like that outside.

Fly-in communities are everywhere, and very popular with wealthy aviators. John used to be at Spruce Creek in Florida, probably the state's most well known. These communities can be very attractive (and cheaper) places to look for larger pieces of property, since they are classified as 'specialty' realty. The nice thing though, almost all have large hangars and garages to keep large boats!
No problems keeping the aircraft outside, other than the exposure to salt air.
John is a very accomplished pilot; he started out with a Lear 23 ( I know a couple of check-airmen that had a hand in training him over the years...)
I'm sure the neighbors love him- 707 has a huge noise footprint.
