Default Can Anyone Tell Me About Boating In Mobile Alabama

While it is nasty outside I wanted to ask if there is any good boating spots near Bay Minette, Alabama. My wife's work sends her there from time to time. She says Mobile Bay is well liked. Any suggestions? Have 33 Outlawand trailering is no problem.

Default Come to Paradise...

If trailering is no problem, come on down to Orange Beach. You are only 45 mins away down Hwy 59 South to Hwy 180 East. The Gulf of Mexico welcomes you.

Mobile Bay is good for fishing the banks, but power boating is only good if you know the water. Be wary of shallow spots and trash (crab pods, duck blinds, alligators).

The Orange Beach / Gulf Shores area has plenty of inshore and all of the offshore boating you could possibly ever want.

There is 1 public launch in Gulf Shores under the Hwy 59 bridge (no charge), and 2 in Orange Beach: 1 just east of Hwy 161 on Hwy 180, and 1 off Marina Road approx 1/2 mile north on Hwy 161 off of Hwy 180 (again no charge).

Hope this helps, Enjoy.

Default What he said.........

Being from Pensacola,Florida, about 30? miles east of Orange Beach I can say you would like it. I spent summers ias a kid in Bay Minette at Live Oak Lodge on the Tensaw River. Lots of places on the river between there and Stapleton but haven't actually been on the river in a while.
And you know Orange Beach is nice if they have a big race there.

Watch out for a dumb guy named Forrest and a guy with no legs named Lieutenant Dan. They will be in a shrimp boat name Jenny.

Come on down, you'll love it. Mobile Bay itself isn't much for powerboating, but like was said in other post, the Gulf, Pensacola Bay and onto Destin are great areas to run in.
