Alpha serial numbers...

Alpha serial numbers...
I've been looking all over my Alpha lower gearcase and I can't find a serial number on it.
Does it even have one? If so, where?
I want to look up water pump parts and I want to be sure I get the right part numbers.
If I use Mercury's web site and enter the S/N that's on the upper case, all I get is the beakdown of the upper unit.
Any ideas?
