Default Did you Get a Christmas Bonus

Even though my boss does not read OSO I thought I would say how generous he is. We are a small company
of 10, I am the only who works outside of their KY office. First he flies me in to Louisville round trip for about $450.00 just so I could be at the Company Christmas dinner. He then springs for a first class group dinner at an expensive restaurant. We then all receive a Christmas bonus based on how long we worked there, after taxes mine was close to $1,000.00 (1 & 1/2 yrs). In addition we all are given nice gifts. But the icing on the cake is, he calls today and says that he feels bad he can't give us a 401K because it is to expensive to administrate for such a small group. However we had a good year so he decided to give us each $1,500.00 after taxes! Since I have direct deposit he said it was probably already in my bank account!

The one bad part of the story is since Mr P and I have a joint account, that money is probably already spent on boat parts

Nice to know some employers are still generous. I haven't seen anything ... only been there 6 months so I don't expect anything but how's this... last thursday letter from corporate comes and says due to bad year, all hourly employees will NOT be paid for Christmas and New Years. I'm local management on salary , I get paid , but if this is how they operate and treat their people I'm leaving. Anybody hiring in the Charlotte NC area????? Merry Christmas To All!!!!

Great to hear about your bonus. The 401k is not that expensive to administrate these days. He should look harder at that since that is a key thing to attracting and keeping higher-level people. It's good for the employees, and good for the company. If there is too much profit for the company, they pay more taxes. Might as well distribute some of it into the 401k plan and get happier employees!

I May get a big bonus after the boss figures out what the taxes are going to be ( hopefully it will pay for the new engines )
The damn boss just hasn't got the taxes figured out yet.

OH - I am the BOSS
It's great to be self employed.
