I've been talking to a firm (well, they've been after me, to be honest) about a consulting position at Fort Huachuca in Arizona. From my understanding, Tuscon is the nearest large city, about an hour or so away.

They'd want me to relocate down there, which we are not all that fired up about - of course, for the right money we could get *very* interested. So I'm doing a little background research before the discussions go any further. Anyone have the scoop on Fort Huachuca and the surrounding areas? I realize that Have-a-brew is something like 4 hours away....

I was in Oklahoma about 6 years ago and it was 116 degrees ! I was talking to a guy that just came out of Tusco, and he said it was 128 degrees there !!!!!!!!!! NO THANKS ......

I gre up in PHX nd went to college in Tucson..... It's a small town but is growing. I would say that there are a lot of college students and a lot of retired people, but not too much in between. Tucson is about 2 hours from PHX, and it would probably take you around 5 hours to get to Havasu. It gets hot there for a couple of months during the summer, but you get used to it and it still cools down at night. I would go and spend a weekend there to check things out.

Turn on your oven to the 'warm' setting and stick your head in there for 1/2 hour. That'll give you an indication.

Tucson is awesome. I'd move there in a heartbeat!

It's only a couple of hours from Parker AZ.

When it gets warm, just take a short drive to the pine trees and ski lodge (that's right -- SNOW SKIING)

I have been to Ft. Huachuca many times. I swear, I do not know how people live down there in Sierra Vista. There is not DAMN thing to do in that town. Tombstone gets old after about 2 hours. You would have to live in Tuscon for any action. The drive down from Tuscon Airport to Sierra Vista takes 70-80 minutes. If you don't mind the commute, I think you could manage. However, you are forever and a day away from Havasu, or any place to do some real boating. They have a "river" big enough for a small runabout and PWC in Sierra Vista, but that is about it.

Sell all your dark cars and buy white ones, with deep tinted windows too.

My friends in Tucson frequently go to Puerto Penasco (aka ROCKY POINT)

I'm not sure how far it is from Fort Huachuca, but can't be more than a couple of hours south?
