Just a quick question. What is everyones take on powder coating? I have talked about the plans I have for my boat this winter, but I was also thinking about having some parts powdercoated while I have them off the motor. Stuff like valve covers, timing cover, velocity stack....etc. What do you guys think? Should I? I have a guy here local that does it and says he can do just about any color I want. If the price is right and I have the parts off any way, should I? Thanks in advance, Hippie.

Its extremely durable and looks great if the parts are prepped right. Better than paint in every way. I've done everything from brackets to pulleys to breathers. Best finish available.

If it ain't polished, PC it. I did my valve covers, exhaust, brackets and carb on last boat. Very durable.

I agree with the others. It is the way to go. As far as prep, I always get the pieces as cleaned and polished as possible. The rest I leave up to the local powder coat guy I use. I have never had a problem with durability or finish.

I've got intakes , t-stat housings and valve covers done.
Valve covers are B&B polished aluminum and I didn't want to be polishing them every week. After one season all looks good

Thanks for all the reply's. I was leaning towards doing it. I have seen some of his stuff too, all looks great. So done deal. My plan is to have all the parts I have that are chrome coated with a candy teal to match the color of the trim in the hull of my boat. I am sure it will look good. Thanks. Hippie.

Do a Google or Yahoo search on powder coating. There's a bunch of good industry sites out there that explain proper prep methods as well as application methods. Good info to know when you're looking for a powder coater. You'll know what questions to ask.

Found a better shot of my powdercoat. Valve covers are clear powdercoat. Lost a little luster but have stayed that way with 0 maintenance. (check above pic again)
