Merc will be unveiling their new 4-stroke outboards at the Miami show. This is a clean sheet for them- no Yamaha influences, all Merc engineering.
Supercharged, and very conservatively rated at low boost (for the time being
) at 250 HP, with growth potential to at least 400.
Should prove to be an interesting new design- can't wait to see it!

Merc has gone back to its roots- the inline six. I had heard of delays on its release due to problems keeping the power head sealed- supposedly the two bottom cylinders are VERY close to the water's surface.
My biggest question is octane- they made the mistake of requiring premium for both the 250XS and the 300X, and it's costing them a lot of sales.
Will the supercharger require the high octane? If it does, the scenario will be the same...........

That's amazing....it's only a matter of time before the 2-strokers are history. The EPA laws are crunching on everyone....it's nice to see that they can still get good power in a 4-stroke. The cowl is huge but I guess if you have a supercharged inline-6 you need it!!!!
