I believe they do own the rights to the name but as far as advertising a Super Bowl sale or special I wouldn't think that would be a legal issue unless you were giving away NFL paraphernalia or tickets.

I have heard that the use of "Superbowl" by anyone other than the NFL is a copyright/trademark infringement
I know that they cannot say NFL on the radio.

I heard a local ad on the radio today that used
"The Big Game in Houston" instead of Super Bowl.

Thought that was kinda weird but now I know why they may have said it that way.

I can't remember what chip company it was but one of them was getting sued by the NFL but won because they said it like thats a Super.....Bowl of chips, Not thats a SuperBowl of chips, and they showed a bowl of chips everytime they said it.

Super Bowl is not Superbowl. It is all a Super Bore to me, I'll be driving home from sledding anyway.

Here is the story on the news website explaining everything...If Darin says he is having a Super Bowl Sale on props I doubt they would do everything. Every business in Houston is having a Super Bowl something, besides would'nt it just be more hype for the NFL for the game?? I can see how selling super bowl merchandise would be illegal...We have people peddling fake shirts all over
