Ok Apache experts, what can you teach me about the 33' Apache center console. Who built them (Saccenti, McManus, both ?), how do they run (say with twin 300's), what do they weigh, is it worth restoring one?

And with twin 300 mercs you should see mid to high sixties or better depending how much weight you take out !!!

LEOPAJM - I know the Concept is the same hull design, do you know how much more (??) the older Apache hulls weighed compared to new hulls. Did Concept make any changes to the hull shape or balance?

Balance ??? Most shops will say they "tweeked" this or that ... cause of course their product is "better" ???

I would have to assume that the Apaches were heavier ... Concept likes to put out a "fast" boat with a "fairly" light lay-up ???

I hope Sean Stinson doesn't mind me passing this on, Sean provided this recent quote from Bob Saccenti to me regarding the roots of the 33 Apache

" The 33' x 8' beam Concept is the original Apache, built by me in 78/79. The Chapmans were the plug builders and yes, Pico did the mold. Don loaned me his crew to help me out. Concept bought the molds from the feds at the auction and made a CC out of it...."

Stinson, as usual, knows the people and has the REAL facts.

Considering the changes in technology and the intended purpose of the boats( the Apache was not designed as a CC), I'd have to believe that the Concepts are considerably lighter, thats my .02

BTW Sean if you see this I still owe you those cocktails that didn't happen in Key West.

Would 1986 be an 8' or 9' beam (still playing phone tag with the dealer for more info)?

Stinson, what do you know about them? Like to restore one (the pink would have to go)?

Model center-console that Bob built in the mid-eigthies...I know, I worked@Apache at that time & built them. It was offered in both a Sport Deck & a Center-Console model...They were both built with TRS/Mercruisers or Gil-Bracket V-8 Johnrudes, usually from Second Effort. The center-console boat molds were sold to Joe Clawges, who owns Sundance Marine, in Ft. Lauderdale(954-522-2800). He had a very difficult time selling the first(and maybe the only) boat he built, despite having the resources to move it. It was a triple 200 Merc outboard center-console boat. He called it(of course) a "Sundance 33". The narrower beam Apache 33' was built as both a center-console & a sport deck, prior to 1986, only as sterndrives. Total production of all 33's was very low, compared to todays standards. Hope this helps. Gar Heinrich
