Interested in getting the boards opinion. At 120 MPH in calm seas and or rough seas what would you feel safer in.

I personaly would only want a cat if it was 40 feet or bigger. I just have a fear of going 120 mph in a cat and it fliping over backwards. I have yet to see a V-hull flip over backwards at speed, and since I don't race I don't feel the need to push any boat I drive in a turn to it's limits.
Out in rough seas I would rather stuff the front of a 5000 Nortech V-hull than one side of a 5000 cat.

just out of curiosity on the same point. we all pretty much know some of the habits of cats when pushed past their limits (ie sponson roll, blowing over, hooking) but what do V's do when pused past the limit. not trying to start anything against cats but with V's pushing the 150mph mark i am really just curious. thanks.

KIlo Kat- i think i would feel safer in one of your rides too

V's like to spin snap the drives off and sink. But I'll take that to a blow over.

Ask an Insurance Company!!!

The safer one will be the cheaper to insure all else being equal.

Great Dave, now ya done it.
I'm curious to see the rresponse to his questions, I've wondered the same thing. Even though I've heard from so many people about cats beeing safer at speed I'm with LOR on the blow over thing, that is my biggest fear of cats.

Depends on several things not to mention the conditions and the driver's skill.
