Where to buy 'Perfect Seal' sealant?
#1
Lower unit assembly pt. 2.
sealant for carrier housing. (Item #31 below)
The manual says to apply "Perfect Seal" sealant to the 2 large dia's of of the carrier, where it locates within the lower drive housing. Searched all over for 'Perfect Seal', but having no luck. Not even sure who makes it. It is available from Merc if I order it. The dealer today told me they just use oil there. I'm thinking Merc says to use a sealant for a reason. What's the scoop?
Is this a Merc speciality only item or is that a generic name?
Thanks

I have a can of the shiz.... looks like gasket cinch... but thicker... kind of like permatex #2... never dries... stays sticky... doesn't work too well on cork gaskets.Mercury Quicksilver part number 92-34227-1

Perfect seal is great for rebuiding seawater pumps , installing circulator pumps and coating battery terminals too. It seals up gaskets pretty good. Years ago we used to use it on head gaskets before thay had their special coatings.
