Default A Boat is Born

I have a friend that makes a center console fishing boat called the G20. Today I was there when he popped Hull #8 out of the mold. I have never seen this done before so it was cool to help. This particular mold is a split mold that bolts together . Then to pop out the boat you have to seperate it. This was lifting the boat out of the mold after it was split.

This is a picture from the bow. You can see in thos picture the split mold. About two seconds after this picture one of the straps on the lift broke and the boat alost crashed to the floor

There she is. By the end of the day the deck was to be on the thing. It is amazing how fast things go together at this point. The deck and consoles are all built so it is cut off the exess and bolt it all together.

This is cool! I have absolutley no idea how a boat is made from the forms. I need to visit a factory sometime to view the process.

Dave I will try and get over at the middle of the week. This one is shipping to the boat show in Washington DC Tuesday. So if anyone is going there check it out. This one will ship to the show unrigged then come back to be finished.

Jon
