i am doing the heads on both of my 7.4 efi motors
these are the small oval port heads
it is too costly to change over to the rectangular heads at the moment.
is there a cam & spring swap that will be supported by the cpu that will be be worth any power??
any tips when i send the heads to the machine shop
thanks

Honestly,, your better off with the small heads,, there not bad at all for the HP range your in.
The EFI system is more restrctive then the heads in that application.

jhogg We have done work on those engines and the most power you can make thru that throttle body is 375HP even with the best camshaft and the best flowing heads 375 is it. We can sell you a cam upgrade and reprogram your ecu and use a better flame arrester and ex and can bring you up to the 375.

He saw my ECU more times than I can count when bobl was doing mine last winter. I was hardheaded and wanted to keep the MPI. An aweful lot of work and money for not so much gain. Don't get me wrong, mine's strong but just lays down at about 4600 RPM. I got about 4 MPH on top and it's probably got more low and mid grunt than most Sea Ray's, and oh, it does sound good!
Go carb or aftermarket EFI to get much better power, but then you'll likely be pushing the limit for that motor and have a lot of $$'s tied up.
