Question 496 versus 500 efi

My wife and I are getting ready to venture into the performance world along the lines of a 35 Fountain Executioner.

I have read many posts here (will be joining this weekend) and value this groups input.

We definately want past the 70's and would like to flirt with 80mph. This will be a lake boat.

What are pluses and minuses of these to powerplants.

Thanks Kent

Difference? Resale
Pick the 500 EFI
What are they charging for the difference?
New boat?

In the 35 Ex they claim the 500 to be 3 to 4 mph faster, no close water cooling system though.

If you're thinking 500, take a look at 525's. I think the price difference is only $5k per motor. Well worth it, especially with the closed cooling.

The 500's are made with better internal parts and cost more.

The 496's are cheaper and have closed cooling.

Boat with 500's will cost more and have better resale down the line.

Go Blue You know the saying; pay me now or pay me later. Save a few bucks now and take a hit when you sale. Pay a few bucks more now and get better resale. Plus they look a whole lot better in the boat
