Default Alignment tool dimensions??

Did a search for this thread and the link to the dimensions for the alignment tool is no good. Does anyone have them?? I am having trouble, and want to verify that the tool I have was machined right. It goes through the gimble bearing but stops immediately on a ring right behind the bearing?? You can see form inside the boat that the smaller areas of the tool are not ever getting to the coupler to engage. It is hanging up before it ever gets there.

Could it be that the bearing ring is frozen? What then??

You have the newer coupler with the extended sleeve. I had mine turned down the size of the end for an extra 2", and it worked fine. this is the updated diagram. Maybe you can compare it to yours to be sure.

Well, I have the new tool according to that diagram. Only problem I see is that the one I bought has a diameter of 1.380 instead of 1.374 as the drawing indicates. I guess that is why it will slide a few inches into the bearing then stops, is there a tolerance ring or something like that?? Will try and have this one turned down on Monday. Thanks for all the help and hope I have this ready by Spring

No tolerance ring, just the newer style coupler.

If the tool starts into the bearing, then it will pass thru it. The bearing bore is not stepped. But the 1.380 is a bastard size and doesn't sound right.

I thought that also US Fountain, But my 2002 502 had the new style coupler, and the old tool had to be reworked. That diagram I posted is from Merc to accommodate there new (and old)couplers.

The sleeve that your alignment tool won't fit into till you machine it to the new specs.
