It appears I am going to need some professional help dealing with FOC in Detroit. 2 years ago they decided to collect child support for my 24 YO son. Letter says I am not in arrears. 2 years ago my income tax refund was snatched, but I wasn't in arrears, in other words, I don't owe back $$$. I successfully fought it. Last year, no problem with them (IRS). This year, I get letter from IRS, saying refund ($4K) going to back child support again! They have been garnishing my wages for last 2 years ($20 a week) and sending $ to my ex. Son doesn't live with her, either.

I think I'd try dealing with them (IRS) directly on this issue in lieu of the attorney route right now. You can probably get it straightened out fairly quickly and save some big coin (IMHO)

YEAH - and if you prove them wrong. Good luck trying to get your $ back from them. They will just say that you have to get it back from your EX. Good luck.

We are getting ready to file injured spouse in this matter. I also need to find out if there is an appeal process. It appears there may have been a gap of 2 or 3 weeks, when I was laid off, 10-03, and was out of work for 2 days, so they didn't get a couple of $20 bills, and they want to scam me for $4K.
