Default Bravo vs. Mirage

What's the closest Bravo 1 size to a Mirage Plus 25?

Thanx

Bravo's are a little "light" on pitch. In other words, a 26P really has a theoretical pitch of about 25. However, if you are trying to decide which pitch Bravo 1 to use if a Mirage 25 is currently working well for you, I agree that a 24P is correct because you will lose some RPM's due to the extra diameter and blade surface on the Bravo 1.

My Mirage plus are labbed too. I was hoping to get a set of 26 pitch Bravo 1s and lab them to get a little extra rpm. A friend has 28's, but I think they are way too much.

Just curious, why do you want to switch to Bravos? You will lose speed.

I turn around 5200 RPMs with a 25 Mirage Plus and 5000 rpms with a 26 Bravo 1. Top speed difference was less than 1 mph and all around handling is MUCH BETTER with the Bravo 1.

I agree, all around the 4-blade is a superior prop except for top speed. Most people do not run balls-out all the time. I'm usually got the family, full cooler, and full tank. The 4-blade will get you better speed and range with that more realistic conditions.

If I know I want to blast around or do a poker run, I'll put the labbed Mirage's back on.

Hey Shooter,

Depending on your drive height, Mirage +'s may give you good performance.

My boat came with a Mirage + and I ran it for one season. I could not keep it hooked up in rough water. I would actually have to come off plane to get it to hook back up. The other problem I had was with a lot of chine walking. The Bravo 1 solved both problems.

Bajas are pretty deep when it comes to X-dim. I rarely have a blow-out problem unless I mash on the throttle from a standing start. In hard turns I have to be a little wary too, but it's the straight cruise where I saw the diffrence in the other boat.

My comments were tailored to the fact that Shooter has a Baja, which has a deep x-dimension. Most people running single-engine Baja's report that 4-blades give too much stern lift and make the boat feel like it is plowing. Some report that the stern feels "squirrely" as well. I looked into putting a 4-blade on mine for a long time and finally decided against it.

I would recommend talking to Darin at Houston Prop. He can made your Mirage hookup much better. You may want to give that a try first.
