I didn't see the post. No Mike is not any relation and at this point I wouldn't claim him if he was he made quite a few enemies with his postings on rec.boats.racing.power news group last year.
My brother Steve Barrett is a reporter for WFTV in Orlando http://www.wftv.com/station/2327390/detail.html he doesn't race. It looks like I'll be down for an APR race on April 24-25th in Chattohochee Fl. I just found out some bad news though, Neal Harroway won't be racing anymore for Hooter's as I have heard he rebroke his back. I don't have all the details yet though.

They better make all the noise they can for Hydroplane Racing.
After Bud pulls out at the end of the year I bet this series will be gone within 2 years.
That kind of racing died with Bernie Little too bad. I hope they prove me wrong.

GLH,
Don't bet too much..... The new series sponsor will be announced at the end of this season, suffice to say it will only get better. 2 more race sites for 04' ( St. Clair MI and Nashville TN) and another 2 for 05', permits pending.
For the record, one team has been around longer than the Bud, and that's the Miss Madison, now sponsored by O Boy! O Berto. How does the O Berto company see the future of our sport? they've upped our sponsorship for 2004, as did Imcor for the U-10.
How does Speedvision see our sport? While many say they are all NASCAR, they've nonetheless increased our air dates and put all of the Unlimited races on Prime viewing times for 2004.
And the race sites, and fans, how do they see the sport? While there are the naysayers on various web sites, every race in 03' had an increase in gate, with an average of over 80,000 paid attendance at each event.
The live coverage of the Seattle race garners a Nielsen rating higher than any regular season pro sport, including NASCAR, NFL, etc.
There will always be those who see the cup as half empty, such is their choice. And then there are the folks just having a ball with life! I prefer that second group.
GLH, here's a deal: make it to one of our races this summer and we'll make you a U-6 team member for the day. Race uniform, pit credentials, the works. You tell me and all OSO what you think after a weekend at one of our races. I'll take that risk, how about you?

Hey Troutly,
I don't know if Detroit, St. Clair MI, or the Madison, IN race is closer to you? In either event, if you can make it, we've got the passes, Beef Jerky and wrenches just waiting for you! You'd have a ball with my teammates
Take care!
