I was thinking of moving up to a 454mag efi from a 310efi.Has anybody tryed any upgrades that make good improvements in hp's without supercharging or losing reliability.

I don't get the question? Are you going to try to upgrade your 310 to 454 mag specs or are you going to pull the 310 out and replace it with a 454 mag?

Plenty of people have reliably upgraded the 310HP 7.4 motor up to 385HP (the 454 Mag output) or more but have done so with a carb. setup since reprogramming the ECU is not straight forward. Allegedly the 7.4MPI intake plenum/manifold was poorly designed also.

If you were asking about truely upgrading your 7.4 motor to the 454 MAG components, you'd probably save money and time by just buying a complete 454 Mag since they have little in common other then the block and external bolt-on accessories.

I was looking to find good upgrades for a 454mag efi 385hp .The 310 is a great engine but did not think it would be a good to build up do to the cast crank,pistons and small rods.

Revelocity do you have any more info on the intake prob with the 7,4 efi mag 385hp thanx also what bolt ons has any one done to this motor and what outcome good and bad??
