Went down to the boat last weekend. Installing my system is a bigger problem than I thought (of course).

What is the front of the rear bench made out of? It feels like it is two pieces of material with the inside made of glass and the outside ply covered w/ carpet. Need to get some holes in there for some speakers and a sub. Also need to come through somewhere with the spkr wires.

Thoughts encouraged . . . happy thoughts . . .

I need to know this too! Anyone been in there? Recommendations? I am planning to put two 10" free-air subs, and two 6 1/2" round speakers in there from my last boat.

You are correct. The inner layer is fiberglass, the outer layer is plywood. The plywood is bolted in place along the outer edges by three machine screws, washers, nuts and can be accessed from inside the side coamings. I had (2) 6X9's in this panel from the factory. Wires can be fed in from the side between the fiberglass and the plywood. I don't remember exactly how this was done and I don't have pictures, but I can check my friend's 311 when he gets it out of storage in a few weeks, or phone the guy who bought my old one and hook you two up.

Another 311 stereo question: I have 2 big amps to put in (70wx4, 240wx2 RMS), and would like to keep my storage open. I was thinking of mounting them behind the fridge, but I am afraid that may get too hot and they will shut down. Possibly fans? I don't want to mount them on the walls in the cabin either, and under the back seat gets wet.

Any ideas?
