Nothing new there. They have been around since the late 80's or early 90's. They got a lot of great press when they first came out. Looked real promising too. Then NHRA banned them due to some dramatic blower explosions. I don't know much else about them.

Cords right, Sterling now thinks they're ready and has started to use them ( they were used on the record breaking OL ) They have much less parasitic drag but by design have to be dramatically overdriven therefor the durability and belt issues come into play. All of the BIG hp Sterlings ( 1200hp+) use them. Ya gota love Fiore he's putting them to the test
I gave them a look but the damn things are HUGE especially in width.

They are a screw type blower kinda sorta like the Whipple. Guess the drive ratio just has to do with the blower design.

You are right about the size, they look like a SBC bolted on top of the BBC.
I have 2 motors equipped with them in my 1984 38 Cigarette and love them. With a pr. of the new HP1000+ Holley's on ea. and a very mild solid roller cam @ 7.5:1 compression ratio, I was able to make 1105 hp. @ 6200rpm and 1060 lb/ft of torque @4500, and all on pump gas.
They will idle @ 500-600 rpm, in gear and I have not had one bit of trouble with them in the 3 years that I have used them.
