Default fuel pick-up/check-valve?how to tell

My '90 fountain 29' has 2 x 454 mags and the pickups are square block with pipe thread barb screwed into the block and no other features. Can I blow backwards to see ? Aeromotive says remove it before my new pump is in.There is no sock on my pick-ups and it's a 113 gal tank. Thanks

Just blow on the dang thing, air comes out the other end no check valve. Now suck on it. This ain't rocket science.

Actually it takes quite a bit to get the check valve to "pop off" if it was there you would know it. Only an experienced date could pull through the check valve.

yeah, something like a half psi is needed to suck thru an anti-siphon. If you CAN do it, it is in your best interest to deny it.
