Default Breaking drives

I have a seen some of the post about some big boats with Bravos busting drives. I have a 2000 42 Sonic 500efi's and just the HP Bravo, 175 hours on the boat and have never busted a drive. It is about 14000# with gas and doesn't get out of the water too much but has been aired out a few times.

It seems to me if you get in and out of the sticks when needed and easy out of the hole they should live. Unless you get a a 3 foot wave or more I never let out of it because the prop never gets out of the water like a smaller boat would load and unload the drive.

So whats up with the 50 Hustlers and other big ones eating drives are they just being beat on or am I just lucky.

I had a P29 before and sold it because I was busting Blackhawks all the time. I have never broke a Bravo in 3 boats that I have had with them and a few 1000 hours.

In my 40 hustler with trips, i usually popped a drive every other month or so and twist a prop shaft about the same. Not beating on it. Just don't think that they like high trq going into them This solved a little and damage became less after I did some resurch and found that one of my drives was trimming higher than the others were so it would air out more often, gotta love them shops for that one. this is 650hp and 32pitch 4 blades imco uppers and shafts with drive showers as well.

BRAVO'S ARE JUNK! BROKE 4 IN 5 YEARS! AND I DO PULL BACK, MORE RELIGIOUSLY EVERY YEAR! GETTING AWAY FROM ALL THAT. BUT THATS JUST MY OPINION.
