Found broken springs at 165 hours. Pulled the HP500s and am having them freshened up. Nickerson is using Isky springs and recommends Crane lifters with the tie bar. Lift is .630. I did a search and it seems that's at least someone HATES one or all of the lifter guys. This makes it tough to decide which one to use.
Please give me your suggestions.
MFG
TieBar or NO Tiebar
They will be HYD ROLLERS
thanks

Having totally destroyed a motor last season because of a failed tie bar and the very next day my neighbor blew up his motor because of the same problem, I'd stay away from the tie bar arrangement if at all possible.
Im my case I am stuck with running them because I have Mark IV blocks. After quite a bit of research I feel that Isky, hands down makes the best tie bar lifter on the market. They are way more expensive than the competition, but when you destroy your motor because of a lifter failure were is the savings there??
I could be wrong but I thought that Crane made a long body slotted lifter than will accept the 'dog bone' style stock retainer.
....just my .02

Although really expensive, I have heard of excellent results when using the ISKY springs.
As far as the rollers, I believe that Crane, Comp Cams use the same manufacturer for the roller lifters, hyd. lifters, and mech. lifters. A few years ago I even ordered stuff from Ultradyne and the lifters were inside a Crane Box.
I would stay away from the dogbone style lifters. I had a few break on me in a solid roller setup. the bar seemed to work better.

There is a new cam going in (similar to the 651) the springs will be
Isky, not Crane(of course not, I already bought two set of them). Dean is shooting for 140# on the springs, I need to make a decision on the lifters. He recommends Crane with the tie bar, but on a search of this thread, I found a lot of guys that do not like them. Thus the request for help and advice.
thanks

I trashed crane roller tie bar lifters here 1 1/2 years ago, sent the complete set back to crane, they called me 3 days later and told me there was nothing wrong with that particular set and replaced only the broken pair. so I reinstalled them and used a rocker stud support brace and never again had a problem, knock on wood, sorry crane.

RUN ISKY SPRINGS AND COMP 887-16 LIFTERS. I HAVE RAN THOSE FOR YEARS AND THEY ARE AS BULLETPROOF AS THEY GET UP TO 6000 RPM. AS YOU KNOW I RUN THEM HARD
IF RUNNING A MECH ROLLER RUN ISKY HIPO LIFTERS, THEY ARE AS BULLETPROOF AS THEY GET IF YOU RUN SHAFT ROCKERS SEE YA CHARLIE
