Question 2004 Key West World Championship

OSS & SBIP sign letter of intent for World Championship

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Key West, Florida and Corpus Christi, Texas - February 17, 2004

Super Boat International Productions (SBIP) and the Offshore Super Series Powerboat Racing Association (OSS) have signed a letter of intent to race together in the 2004 Key West World Championship Race from November 7th thru 14th. The World Championship race will be four days of racing with many events during the week. As always, this years world championship will attract racers from all over the world, crowning winners in their respective classes as World Champions.

The Conch Republic Offshore Powerboat Racing Association (CROPBRA) a nonprofit organization, formed nearly 20 years ago will be producing the event. Over the past month there have been numerous conversations between CROPBRA, SBIP, and OSS to make this happen. “CROPBRA hopes to return stability of racing in Key West. One of the major concerns following last years World Championship race is the conflict between promoters, racers, national race organizations, and the business community,” said Bill Spottswood, President of CROPBRA.

SBIP is a National and International sanctioning body, lead by President John Carbonell, staging races in Key West for over 20 years. “We want to bring back the tradition of great racing that Key West has been known for,” said Carbonell.

OSS is a not for profit owners association led by Chief Executive Officer, Elaine Motl, a 13 year veteran in Offshore race production. “OSS has answered the call of the Offshore community by working towards a united World Championships in Key West,” said Motl.

OSS and SBIP individually will produce a number of offshore powerboat events in 2004.
