Default Info on jet boats - Yammie, SeaDoo, etc?

Buddy of mine is looking at buying a jetboat for use at the lake house; he (and I) know nothing about these things, looking for any websites or other sources of info.

Many thanks!

I have a sugar sand and love it. Do a search, they have a site.

Yamaha and Kawi have the best reliability in the business. Since Kawi doesn't make one that narrows it down a bit.

Newer 'Doos use the Merc jet. The Merc is reliable. The older 'Doos use ski motors which I have a difficult time recommending. Sugar Sand has used both the OMC (reliable) and the Merc (reliable) over the years, as have Sea Ray, Bayliner, and others. Yamaha uses their ski motors in their jet boats. Good stuff.

I work for a Yamaha and Kawasaki Dealership in New Jersey and have 7 years of experience with the Yamaha Jet boat models. Both in sales and service. As stated above you can not count out the reliability factor of the Japanese based companies(Kawi and Yamaha). Any other questions feel free to ask.

I have a Yamaha as a second boat. Great boats.
Here's a Yamaha forum...

They are a good group of people that should be able to give you any info you need on all Yamaha models.

BTW, the new 23' is a pretty nice family/bay boat that can still be tossed around like a toy.

Ill handling at slow speeds. Docking is a trick.
Tell him to look for something with what we call a #6.. He'll be happier.

Once you learn how to operate them, the Yamaha is very maneuverable with it's twin engines... it just takes a little seat time to learn how they operate.
