Default AN fittings help

Does the hose need to go completely into the fitting (to the top)before the inner "barb" goes in. I'm having trouble geting it to slide in and grab the threads. Any tips? I'm getting better but wonder if I need to go redo the first ones. They were only half inside..

The hose has to be all the way up in the fitting before screwing in the other half. Put a little lube on the hose end before assembly. It will go up there.
