Default Make a 496HO louder??

My friend has a new 2004 25 outlaw w/496HO and he wants the boat to be louder, I have to admit it does sound pretty tame to have 425hp.

I suggest adding cmi headers or similar.

Anyone else have some suggestions, he isn't looking for more performance just more Bark.

Thanks

WILL

25 outlaw probably has corsa muffled tips, you could probably put straight tips, if you can get away without breaking any noise laws????

Exactly. I had these same tips on my Hammer.....switched them out to straight through tips and it's like night and day difference. Now the Corsa's did sound good...but I just wanted them a little louder. If you do go with straight throughs...I'd look into those with internal flappers.

Where did you buy them?? and how hard was it to do? Some think a couple of nonmechanical guys can do or need to get a pro.

Thanks

sorry for the late response. I bought mine off a guy on here in the classifieds, they are Rex Marine 90degree cut straight through tips w/internal flappers. Believe me....you can do the job yourself....heck if I can, anybody can You basically have to be real careful pulling off the old tips, they will take some force to get out but just be careful and don't damage anything. Your old corsa tips should have a rubber seal that you can reuse when you put the new one's in. I had to drill new bolt holes for mine. the rubber seal will cover the old holes.....for extra protection you could put some silicon in there (i didn't but thats up to you) then just bolt them down w/lockwashers and nuts and your set. The internal flappers will make some noise at idle but you'll get use to it. It'll definitly be louder that for sure Let me know if you need any help at all.....I'll be glad to help.

yep thats them. I found some on ebay but they don't have internal flappers. I don't see any in the classifieds here either. I guess the new one's are what you'll have to go with......you can always sell your old Corsa's on ebay

PM me if you need any help....and like I said man if I can do it you surely can

Corsa direct replacements are part #1100. These are 4" dia. 45 deg angles w/internal flappers (lifetime warranty) and utilize the same bolt-hole pattern. Not as cheap as others, around $200 pr. Took me 45 minutes to replace on a set of twins. Also picked-up 200 rpm.
