Question Thru Hull Water pick ups for Skater / Spectre

Pros / Cons?
How many of you guys are running this set up?
What brand are you using.
Will inboard pickups work the same.

Anyone running this setup on a 30 Spectre or 28 Skater

Details/ Pics please.

Default Great!!!

Here are the rules

If you mention Apache all the "interesting" people come out of the woodwork
If you mention Fountain a discussion on the merits of stepped hulls will ensue
If you mention anything about chicks in bikinis...well were all interested
Everyones a know it all
there are some real jerks online
There are a lot more great people than jerks
Everyone has a "guy" "buddy" or mechanic

have fun.

By the way
DOES ANYONE KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT WATER PICKUPS!!!!!!!!!

i use hull mounted on the trandsom.

thru hull will work also. i like transom mounted.

they are easier to modify and trim.

on my v bottom they are side by side seperated by three inches, straight up and down, bevel cut to the dead rise.

bottom of the pickup against the hull , top angled away.

side edges and rear of the square tubing beveled backwards and up above the bottom of the hull.

on my v bottom port to port starboard to starboard.

on cats you can run them into sea strainers with a cross over or try port to starboard and starboard to port.

in the turns th inside pick up gets air some times.

fyi

Maximus,
Give Brownie at Stainless Marine in Miami a call. They make several different types and have experience with a myriad of hulls, engine's etc. He's a good source for answers to your question. Also JT or Mike Thomas at TNT in Miami. Good guys, very helpful.

Hope you're enjoying your new boat!

I have posted my feelings on this several times. Search under the tech section using my screen name and "pick up" as the criteria.

Default Steve, Cord,mr V,packin

Thanks for the info. The new algorithms for the 300x seem to be very sensitive to water pressure...which as you all know decreases when you raise engine height or x - dimension

So we are going to have to plumb a race set- up water pickup in "the judge"

Flush mount in the hull.

SteveDavid....How's the new job???
