Default 525sc rebuild

I think at the end of the season it will be time to rebuild the 525's. Wondering what to do and who should do it. They are basically stock except they have BS 250's and gill dry exhaust. I want to keep the blowers and reuse the exhaust unless I find it to be roached for some reason.

HP targets is 600-650 but mild enough to be around the docks at close quarters. Preferable that it be a LOTO builder. I am limited by the bravo drives and I don't push it hard so I don't think they will have any problems. Also 92-93 octaine is the limit. I want bullet proof motors and reliable motors from someone that knows what they are doing.

Any suggestions?

Sterling. Nobody better. They are not as expensive as one might think, and you get what you pay for.

Add some chillers to it. If I remember correct the boat does not have them.

By the way I have one of the old blowers off your boat. If you decide to change carbs I would be interested in the 525 flame arresters and carbs.

You are right it has a different intake that matches the blowers or maybe the intake was polished. Red Dog price really isn't a factor to a point but I would like to use the old motors as a base if possible. Chillers are a good idea and I would probably use whipple because of the lower height but I would also have to have the hatch cut and scoops added and I am undecided if I want to go there.

Did that include intercooling it? That gets close to where I want to be would a slightly different cam and head work get it to 110-125 hp?

One recommendation would be Gene at Lightning Performance. He is off of Highway 5 between Laurie and Gravois. He has done several blower motors and many NA big horsepower motors. He is very meticulous and will not let anything leave his shop that he is not completely satisfied with. I am a very satisfied with the motors he built for me. I have met many of this other customers and they won't use anyone else.

Good luck.

That should get you there. Dustin told me adding his intercooler should give me around 100hp more. He tends to be pretty much on what he states. I also recommend Gene at Lightning.
