What is the best trailer wheel bearing grease. I have tried a few and most will wash out or turn to soap.

What is the grease that will last and last.

I have been wanting to ask the same question, too. I have used Mobil 1 red synthetic in the past with good luck - minimal washout and no "soap". Last year I repacked the bearings with Pennzoil "premium marine grease" supposedly ideal for wheel bearings. That stuff was dark green and very thin when I put it in and it turned into water viscosity and light blue-ish color within a couple of dunks in the water. It went out thru the grease seals, all over the brakes (REALLY NOT GOOD) and all over the wheels. BTW, My axles have Posi-Lube system and I what I am doing with that system (at least I think I know ).

Just went thru all the hubs again (and installed new brake pads, bearings/races as needed, and grease seals on all 4 hubs). This time I am trying the red Valvoline #615, which used to be called Val-plex EP. Supposedly that is good for "marine" use. I hope so.

Been using Lubrimatic(sp) boat trailer bearing grease for yrs with no problem.

Do you tow very far? You know , towing a good distance and getting bearings hot and dunking them right away , cools them quickly and can suck in water. If you're not too impatient , leave them cool a bit before submerging them.

I bring a spray bottle for those days , to aid in cooling
mist the hubs and the brakes,, little bit at a time
takes 4-5 minutes to cool them down and it prevents
warped rotors

Is lubrimatic a long fiber grease? Is it blue?

Over 30 years ago wheel bearing grease was the long fiber stuff you hand packed into the bearings. The new synthetic greases seem to be a no fiber gease that I think will wash out. I maybe all wrong about this. The new greases may flow more and lubricate the bearings better. I just don't know.

Who makes the stuff that will not wash out on your wheels? Is any of it good for a couple years or longer?

I really don't like to repack the trailer bearings any more than I have to?

Mystic JT-6 grease, not high temp, but the regular stuff is the best with all the boat and trailer people I know.
Used it at work also. Had big fan bearings that would go out every 6 months. Swithed to Mystic JT-6 and same bearings last for several years.
Yes, there is a difference in greases. High temp is not necessary.

Mobil XHP 222 Special. I am a Machine Repairman here at the Saturn plant and had problems with bearings. We have an on-site Rep in our Preventive Maint. office and he gave me it to try. No more problems.

NAPA carries a RED grease, this stuff is great. Look at the temp specs on it. Very good against water.
