What a let down............
As a female new to Offshore Powerboat Racing since 2000. I have read every magazine that has involved our sport. I read about Betty Cook, Twisted Chyxs, Sarah Donohue,Whilma Ross, etc, females who have had a positive impact on our sport...........
My roomate ( who rigs the best Supercat on the circuit) brought home the new issue of EXTREME BOATS............
I see this Chic MERRIT CABAL on the cover????
Who the F..K is she????
What has she done for Offshore or Poker Runs????
She is married to a guy who owns 3600 NOR-TECH??
She was in PLAYBOY??
Who cares??
I have been behind the Helm of 50ft Nor-tech Turbine
There are fremales that are attractive and actually know about boats and can run and race them!!
By the way , we are hot too! XO!
I just find this magazine a joke now. If you are going to FEATURE WOMEN on your cover, they better know about HORSEPOWER, PROP SIZE, X DEM, Drives.etc, not the CC's in the boobs.......

says David's company is 'Extreme Motorsports' a Nor-tech
factory authorized dealer in New Oreleans. They provide
aftermarket performance options, let's see his buff self
on the cover!! They try to say it is her boat, hard to
believe, of course it has a generator & air conditioner & a
couch in the sponson, very functional!!

BatGirl, what happened to racing Bats in Marathon? I was looking forward to giving you some coverage but you never showed up. Maybe next time.

Nice rant though

Like BatGirl, I'm a female and a powerboat boat racer too (though I called it quits after my kids were born). I used to get miffed about the boating press certain girls would get purely on looks, when there are SOOOO many gals out there that regularly kick butt,... but who might never get a second glance on the beach. I could rattle off a lengthy string of girls who have long deserved kudo's....

But you know what? I learned to shrug it off - it just doesn't matter in the long run. In the men's boating mags, I would have rather been compared as an EQUAL competitor to all the "guys" than to have them point out my skills based only on some "Hottie" scale.

But sex sells magazines, so I'm afraid we're just going to have to live with that kind of stuff.

BTW - I thought Merrit's boat was AWESOME!
