Default Tow Vehicle?

I am looking to purchase a new (preferably used) tow vehicle capable of towing around 10,000 lbs..

I would like it to be smaller than an F-250.. Is there a vehicle like this?

Thanks!

Ditto on Avalanche 2500. I love mine. Now towing 12K lbs. Well, not yet, but in a week I will be, and legal too.

Yup, the Excursion is shorter than the F250 and you can get a Diesel in it. If you are going to tow 10,000lbs you need a truck like the X, at 8800lbs you will not have to worry about the trailer controlling the truck. The launch your lunch is too light. You will need air bags on anything you tow of that weight. That and a good Diesel engine, it is a difference of 6mpg or 12. I tow a 10K boat and my X gets 12 at 70mph.

The Avalanche 2500 is great, i have one.

Ignore Dockrocker and Troutly, they think the Renault Le Car was stylish.

The Excursion is a huge vehicle and will not fit in most garages.

The Yukon XL/Suburban is the other vehicle to look at.

With a 10,000 lb boat you need a 3/4 ton chassis.

The 2500 GM series trucks are slightly smaller than a 250, however I wouldn't go any smaller than that for a boat that large. Make sure you spend the $ for a good hitch too, its worth it in the long run.
