Default Some info on boat construction

Here is some good reading on boat construction. I have been doing research on construction materials for years. You can never know too much about this subject. BH

Pascoe's site is great! It should be mandatory reading for all boat buyers. Good stuff. I've had it bookmarked for years.

There was a similar article I ran onto that showed hurricane damage on pleasure craft... In the article they refered to some layups as "putty boats"... because the boat had one layer of matting.. one layer of cloth... and then what looked like putty to add density... junk construction.

Skater uses's balsa to core their boats , need I say more? I had a race boat built with a foam cored bottom and it delammed. Do the balsa right and it will stand the test of time! BH

Polyester resin was invented by a Swedish guy named Jons Jacob Berzelius and Owens Corning came up with the fabric. NO T2x had nothing to do with it - haha - BH

I think most builders have gone to Vinylester resin because it won't absorb water and saturate cores and stringers.
