Default Trailer Hitches

We are changing our tow vehicle from a pintle hook to a 2 5/8" ball. We were wondering if anyone knows of a ball mount that has a 10-ton rating and fits the 2" receiver on our Ford F-550. We've found a 25,000 lb. ball and our receiver is rated to handle whatever the truck can handle, so all we need is the ball mount so we can make the switch. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Call Redneck Trailer Supplies #(813)628-0000 they are in Tampa. They deal in HD type trailering supplies. They list a 12,000 lb in their book for the F-350 Super Duty.
Good luck.

Are you sure of that? The hitch that came with my dually is only a class 4.

Go4Broke,
Our F-550's hitch is solid welded to the frame, so it will handle whatever the truck can tow.

Thanks,

Ummm... not to sound like a jerk, and I'm sure you've checked out your hitch for your situation (or at least I hope you have), but a hitch being welded to the frame has nothing to do with it's weight rating. I just don't want someone to read this thread and get the wrong idea.

you even have to be careful with custom work by so called pro's. Just because someone can lay a purty bead does not mean they can properly design a hitch. And most truck frames are designed to have bolt on hitches- welding to truck frames is usully a no-no whether its a dually, medium duty or an OTR truck.

Good luck with your ball quest

Just to clarify the hitch was installed by Tuscany Conversions and it is welded to the frame but it is also bolted. I am assuming that a quality company like Tuscany knows what they're doing.

Did you try them for the ball? Or did they simply do the install? Sometimes the pintle hook is the only other choice besides 5th wheel conversion.
