Default 7.4L MPI in the 24??

I found a lower time (120 hours) 2002 7.4 MPI motor I'm looking at to possibly install in the 24 to try and sell it w/power.

I know its not a HP motor, but it is turnkey, reliable and should still get the boat moving.

Any ideas of what speeds?

What do you guys thing of this motor in a 24?

A freind of mine ran 59 with the same engine in a 24 Outlaw. You should do better I would think. Ran everytime, just add gas.

I race(d) with and maintain Scott B's '00 24SE (GiGi Motorsports), the boat came from the factory with a 7.4MPI. The boat did a realistic 65mph on GPS with two guys and half fuel running realistic trim. Obviously if you run the boat with a lot of trim, running way loose and with less fuel and one guy you'll see a couple more mph!! Hope this helps!?! Jason

I have since gone Bigger but the boat was competative in P5 and we never turned a wrench.

PS If I could find another one cheap, I would buy it for a pleasure motor and use it in the offseason. Reliable, economic, and 65 in a 24 is still fun.
I actually did buy one for a pleasure motor but Dad blew up his and I gave it to him

1989 24' Pantera ran 63mph with a stock 305HP/7.4Carb. spinning a 23p Mirage+.
1997 24' Superboat ran 66mph with a stock 310HP/7.4MPI spinning a 25p Mirage+
Superboat now cracks 70mph with a modified 7.4MPI...
Great low end torque engine.
I too would be interested in a spare.
Hey ScottB, I'm using your old ECU on my 7.4MPI mod.

I believe the 7.4 MPI is around 310 HP stock. But there are several mods that can be done to get it around 330 HP. I'm interested in what Pat did.

I also have a 1999 carbed 454 Mag with less than 200 hours available. It has around 365 HP.

Which would you prefer if you were buying the boat? Lower hours or more HP??
