Default Hey Potomac, Southern MD folks....

Anyone run Tim's to Salomons Island or DC to Salomons? I've got my buddies Checkmate for the weekend and want to do the run and not trailer. Lookin for miles and time. I'll probably run 45-50 if the water is right.
Thnaks All,
Ken
PS...If I don't make it I'd love to hook up with some of the OSO family in the area. I'll be at Sequoia Friday night. 26' Checkmate Persuader Teal and Grey...

Thats a pretty good run there. That is a way to put some hours on a boat. I will be out with beak boater in his 37 OL. I would imagine Fairview will be loaded up this weekend.

Hey KLMKEN,

That is a trip of about 120 miles one way. I would not plan on running at that speed all the way because you never know how the lower river or the bay may get. Also I would plan on leaving early because you never know what the bay water might be like.....It's a great trip enjoy

I ran past that area (mouth of the Potomac) southbound last Saturday, and even though the rest of the bay was virtually flat, it was pretty bumpy in front of the Potomac. We were a pretty good way out in the bay, though, and what wind there was was blowing from the southwest, so it had a pretty good chance to build up some. The prevailing winds are generally from the west, so your ride out shouldn't be too bad, but the ride home against the wind and current could be uncomfortable. Make sure you have a good chart and understand the waters through that area. There are both fish traps and a prohibited target area between the Potomac and Patuxent rivers.

Solomons is a nice place, and bound to be pretty busy. Be careful, but have fun, too.

Cool Re: Hey Potomac, Southern MD folks....

That's a nice run. It's a little over 100 miles from G-Town to point Lookout (end of the Potomac) and then probably a good 20+ miles to Solomons. Chuck and Jimmy are right, the Potomac (south of the 301 bridge) can get nasty, but it's an awesome ride. We used to run down there alot and it was really cool in the evenings. Be safe!!

Nancy and I will be out Saturday through Sunday (camping out Sat. night)

We have been around the point quite a few times. Nice run but can get nasty. We will be out somewhere from St Mary's River to Fairview. Not sure when we be out but you can call either the house 301-259-4531 or my cell listed below. We keep the boat at Cobb Island ( a good half way point ). Good luck if you do decide to go, if not give us or anyone else here a holler we will look forward to meeting up with fellow OSO members in our area

We will probably try to get into Geckos (or whatever it's now called) around dark, have some dinner, get our drink on, and spend the night tied up there.
