* Gasp *... can I send you a tube of KY jelly ???????.....I don't know what Mercruiser charges for gaskets... but for big block Chev's... that's about twice what I've ever paid... and that was for a full engine gasket set. I just spoke to my engine machinist... he says even if you were to get all the stuff ( marine head gaskets,,, rubber moulded valve cover gaskets... and the most expensive of any of those gaskets... the most it could cost is about $300 to $350.... so,, I think either your mechanic is hosing you... or Mercruiser is hosing him.... or a little of both...

That is Bull Sh#@! Just go out and buy GM 502 Head Gaskets. That is what Mercrusier uses. They should be $75 per pair. GM part 12366984. Fel Pro also makes a Marine Gasket for under $100.

Don't get screwed.

I bought merc gaskets for 454 mag and they were only like $60 for a pair.

Check the price for yourself at www.mercruiserparts.com

The Fel-pros you need are the 17048. Summit has them for $47 each.
