Nice weekend on the Sound
#1
Went out Sunday at 6:30 AM. 55 degrees, 10-12mph wind, 1ft chop.
1/4 tank, 2 on board and got up to 64.1mph GPS. As I maxed out the RPM, the tach started to jump between 4900-4500rpm. But it was weird, cuz the boat was flat and not even close to leaving the water. And the rpms were not jumping, but more like falling. BUT, I heard nothing from the engine, it was just running strong. Maybe just a problem w/ the tach. Either way, I backed off immediately, not wanting to cause any problems/damage.
Went out again on Monday 12noon. 62 degrees, 15-20mph wind from the NE,
2-3ft chop w/ the occasional 4ft thrown in for good measure. Waves were about 25-30ft apart, so they were pretty close together. Boat handled flawlessly. Solid as a rock. Friend of mine with me was very impressed.
We caught some nice air and hangtime. I need to gain the courage to throttle into the bigger waves instead of pulling back/ gettin the bow up.
She'd definitely fly more level w/ more speed.
Some thought I was dumb for going out in weather like that, but I'm happy to learn how she will handle these kind of conditions.
I can't wait to get to the ocean for some 5-6ft rollers to launch from!
