Thru the help of Audiofn I have found a long block at a price I just can't refuse, even though it's a LONG ways away. Anyone heading towards the Great Lakes area from the east coast in the next few weeks?? Or, does anyone have a suggestion on how to get it near me cheap??

Try Highway Freight. I've used them several times and they have very good shipping rates. It'll proably cost $150 to ship that engine from Boston to GH. The cheapest rate will be to ship it from a commercial location or terminal to a commercial location or terminal. Residental deliveries add significant cost.

Bob, it would actually cost me more $$ to drive out and get it than it would to ship it. My truck gets 11 mpg on the highway, which really sucks!! It would probably get about 10 mpg on the way back with the motor in the bed. Gets 7.5 mpg towing my boat. Which REALLY sucks.

I shipped a motor from Florida to MI via Yellow Freight. less than 250.00 but I did get a substantial discount to my company. Foul maybe you can take advantage of JC's discount. I shipped it to the company address but paid via credit card so the transaction did not go to accounting.

I've used ABF ( http://www.abfs.com/Default.asp?bhcp=1 ) to ship motors and rear axles. Use their internet site to place the order (occasional shipper option) to get a good discount. Do terminal to terminal not door to door, saves a bunch of $$ and actually is easier to load/unload into your pickup than from their semi.

I have an local engine shop with a hi-lo though I'm not sure he has a real truck dock. I'm thinking I should have it dropped at a terminal like mentioned above.
