As the top race boats in the country make their way across country to St.
Petersburg, Florida final preparations are under way by the local committee who
have been working hard over the last few months to put on the second race of
the OSS 2004 Tour.
“We welcome everyone to St. Petersburg, June 24-27 to experience Offshore
Super Series powerboat racing at its finest while making it possible for all of
us to help fund some deserving organizations in our community,” said Randy
Hegwood, Race Director.
Beneficiaries include Friendship Trail Tampa Bay, Everyone's Youth United,
Police Athletic Activities League, Doorways Scholarship Program, Pinellas
County Schools and Pinellas Education Foundation.
“With the downtown hotels sold out, we’re anticipating a huge crowd,” said
Hegwood. “We can now devote all our time to finalizing details for the
schedule of events to host the OSS race teams, race fans and all involved in
bringing the weekend festivities together.”
The 2004 St. Petersburg OSS Boat Race is being cosponsored by The City of
St. Petersburg, The St. Petersburg Pier, Capt. Al’s, Cha Cha Coconuts,
Columbia Restaurant, and Fresco’s Bar & Grille.
St. Petersburg Offshore Super Series, Inc. is a non profit organization
consisting of local businessmen & local powerboat racers with the intent to
bring a professional well organized race event benefiting local charities to
the St. Petersburg area. For more information or to review a Schedule of
Events visit the St. Petersburg OSS online at: www.stpetersburgoss.org or call
Race Headquarters at 727-896-RACE.

Just a fans question or two:
Why is the "Course" layout blank on the OSS website??
Why is the page of "Entries" also blank..???
We fans want to know..
Please note that only replies from OSS officials will be accepted..
Thanks..We will stop by OSS Sunday morning in St Pete..

gdfatha,
The course is posted and as far as I know has been. I have seen it all week.
http://www.offshoresuperseries.com/raceinfopete.htm
Ref. the "Entries"; I think the form that you are looking at is a pdf download form to fill out as a participate to race, not a list of the registered boat for the St. Pete Race. But I will double check. If you are referring to; http://www.stpetersburgoss.org/entries.html
Then this is the promoters web site for the race, not OSS's web site.
Hope that helps.

The pier is great ..You have an option of viewing from the roof of the restaurant or on the lower level of the pier.
Last years course layout was magnificent for us fans on the pier.

I don't see where the spectator fleet is marked on the course chart, does anyone know where spectator boats will be?
In any event, you can't beat the pier for viewing. It's got to be one of the greatest vantage points of any race course today, you won't be disappointed.
