Just purchased a great looking 1994 Formula 382 SR-1 with 385 hrs, twin 525sc engines, I used it about 4 times, all short trips to river area for dinner, last trip about 30 miles coming back port engine locked up (seized). Limped back home on starboard engine.
Mechanic checked engine next morning and found that the super charger locked up stopping the engine. We thought this was the best thing vs engine or outdrive as far as cost goes. Wrong, new super charger from mercury cost 8k installed. Just did that and put boat back in water and started up perfect....but...engine sounded like a piston was knocking and had a lot of exhaust in the valve box area.
Pulled boat back out and is on its way to mechanics garage for tear down of engine.
I will keep everyone posted on the results.
I hope this never happens to any of you guys, it has been a horrible experience.

I hate to see that you paid $8k for a Weiand 177. I would think that you could have picked one up cheaper than that. Where did you get it done? Hopefully you won't have to sink alot into the motor. Good luck.
