Any info on Python Powerboats?

Saw a 24' Python down here on the Outer Banks. Owner told me it was 1998 with a 502, does 80+. Never heard of them before. Made in Georgia he says. Will post pic soon.

I have had three of them throughout the years. A stock 502 will run over 70 but not 80. They are built by a guy named Jim Clark in Buford Georgia just outside of Atlanta. They design is almost identical to that of a 24 foot Pantera although I would say the Pantera is built a little better but also a lot more expensive. For someone who wants a no frills lake hot rod, for the money they can't be beat.

Below is a picture of one I took at the Lake Hartweel Poker run this year. A friend of mine had one with a built 454 and a B&M 250 that ran about 78. I think 80+ with a stock 502 is stretching it.
I know someone who is selling one now that used to have a BIG blower motor in it and it would run 92. It now has a brand new 540 in it that is built STRONG. If your interested let me know and I will hook you up with him.
They are nice boats in that size class but you don't want to be in one of them at much over 80-85 MPH...especially in the rough stuff

They have a web site at www.pythonboats.com , including this reprint of a Powerboat Mag article on the 24 http://www.pythonboats.com/24performancetest.htm
I know that their Vyper, is a splash of a Donzi 18 2+3.

Tammy and I looked at one here http://www.rpmofga.com/ while touring Lake Lanier GA area.Nice boats. There are a lot of them on Atlanta area lakes. For the money I'd look serious at Georges pantera or 818181's raceboat in the Pantera section of OSO.The ex raceboat is at a killer price now.

Jim is a small guy that builds boats at his own pace. He builds a good solid hull, the 24 is basically the same hull as 24' Pantera, 24' or 25' Sunsation, 24' Super boat. Traditional Deep vee, narrow, with pad. Jim's Number is (770) 271-9803.

I did not ask the guy if the speed he gave was speedo or gps. It does resemble Pantera a bit. Just curious about it. Fairly aggressive deadrise at 24 degrees for a 24 IMO. But what do i know.
