Default Cam Help.. (Once again)

Got a 496 on the way for my 2001 Velocity. (10.25 : 1, Canfield Aluminum heads, 2.25 in, MSD, Barry Grant carb, ect, ect)
Trying to pick the correct CAM.
Currently, we are into the motor for $11,000 (and change).
Trying to keep costs down a bit on things that I can change in a month from now.

If I start changing exhaust, then I might as well go dry. Then, we need a muffler. Add another 4K or so (most likely more). Also, this would mean more time out of the water. I will do this,. Just wanted to wait till the end of the season. Also, if I go dry exhaust, then I might as well go bigger cam, 108 LS, ect, ect.. Then, we are looking well over 600hp, and all of a sudden we need a new Out drive. (Again, a winter project, IMCO???)

So, here is the simple question. Competition products is waiting to custom grind the cam.
What about keeping my stock exhaust for the time being?

What would anyone recommend being the best (and safest? No water reversion) cam to go with?

590lift? 230, 240 duration? 114 LS?

Will that work for the rest of the summer? Without any motor damage?

Canfields don't need much cam to make power, a single pattern is what you would need.

With those cubes and that compression, I would suggest something in the 236/244 112 .610/.632 range. Thats the famous Crane hyd.roller "741" cam.
Now, that cam has 16* of overlap. So if your current exhaust cant handle that you'll need to go smaller. Say something in the low 220's/low 230s 112 but stay up with a .600ish lift. That way if you ever get the exhaust to handle the overlap you wont need to change springs to go to the 741 cam (for example).
I suggest staying under 7* overlap @ .050 with stock exhaust.
just my opinion, I'm sure you'll get others.
