Angry Why chine walk now?

Hi guys, i have a 24 pantera and after making some modifications the boat seems to be chine walking where before it was straight as an arrow, here is what i have and what i changed.
435 hp to 475 hp
Bennett trim tabs dual rams
Was running a 23 3 blade quicksilver mirage and had it reworked to a 24 with added cup .

Before this changes i run the boat to 68 mph on gps and it was great now at 68 its going crazy. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
thanks.

The prop has more cup that is giving you more bow lift. It is lifting and then breaking , lifting and breaking.
Also the higher pitch can cause the prop to have more transom lift.

I have a 24 Superboat which has a very similar hull to your. I chine walk a lot with a 3 blade prop. I only loose 1 mph with a 4 blade and handling is much better.

I'd agree with tinkerer. Depending on where the cup was added to your Miragei could very well cause the chine walking.

Adding cup and calling it a higher pitch is not the same as bending the blades and actually changing the pitch without changing the cup. The prop with more pitch and less cup will typically run faster.

Go back to the old prop and see what happens.

Same thing happen to me over the weekend, I've got a 24 aero which is basicly the same hull, I tried a 29 marage plus and it got really bad at 73 mph, went back to my chopper prop and it went away, probably because of the bow lift. But had a nice cruise speed of 70 mph at 3000 rpm.

I talked to Julie at Throttle up and she told me they need to take a little of the cup since its too much bow lift, im gonna try a hydro quar V and see how I like it, she seems to think that im gonna like this prop. Thanks for the info guys.

Hey Miagra422,

I'm using a 26 Bravo 1 straight out of the box. My boat came with a 25 Mirage +. I wasn't happy with it, it felt too loose, chine walking, would not stay up in rough water. After I bought the bravo, I sent the Mirage out and had it bumped up to a 26 and cupped a bit. I still wasn't happy with it so I stick with the Bravo 1.
