Default Generator for the swim platform...

I know a few people who have the Honda 2000W unit, and are quite happy with its performance. Cost: @$1000.

Found out about this one at Home Depot:

Coleman Powermate
1850 Watt Recreational Generator
Model PM0401853

Power for those on the go. This 1850 maximum watt recreational generator is designed for camping, boating, recreation, tailgating and more. Quieter than most generators, it is fully enclosed for reduced noise and added protection. Two handles provide easy portability. Spark arrest muffler is approved by the U.S. Forest Service. Equipped with a 12 volt, 15 peak amp battery charger and charging cables. Small and compact for ease in transporting and storage. Features two 120 volt outlets. Runs up to 7 hours at 50 percent load.

Coleman w/ Briggs & Stratton Engine and 2 year warranty cost: $399.

So it weighs slightly more, and has slightly less max output than the Honda. I can handle that. What about the noise? Is this unit going to be way louder? Are all my friends with Hondas going to make me sleep elsewhere if I fire this bad boy up with a straight pipe? All info appreciated.

I just bought one to find out the same thing. This may sound stupid. I cannot find out how much oil it requires. Once someone tells me how much oil to put in, I will start it and report back. I expect it to be louder and if too loud, I will return or sell on ebay. You can purchase more than two of these for the price of a Honda so I had to try one out.

Since all was lost yesterday including PM's and I did not retrieve mine in time yesterday. I am a Honda dealer and have sold quite a few Honda Generators to OSO'ers for a discount. Anyone interested in one send me a PM.

Alot of boats use them (all models) at Anchor Marine/Naught Goose for overnighting at the dock, because of no shore power. They just sit them on the dock walkway..........sounds like a lawn mower convention at times.....but serves the purpose
Alot of Honda's and couple Colemans
