Do the 1997 model HP500's have the water reversion/Broken valve spring problems if equipped with the gil exhaust or whatever they used other than the CMI headers? Also is a HP500 with silent choice a problem waiting to happen? I havent seen many with a switchable exhaust but have seen a couple for sale. Thanks for any input.

YES,YES,YES,YES AND MORE YES".
They still have the same problems. They problems are just as bad if it has silent choice also.

I have a 2000 500hp carb with the updated gil risers.... i have never has water in the oil... I am changing my valve springs at 100 hours just because i have read thats about the time they start to fatigue.... I also keep my idle above 800 rpms at all times....
Silent chioce.... Well I have it... And have not had any problems with it yet... knock on wood..... I keep the exhaust above water for anything above 3000 rpms... really if i am planing its above water.... I don't think I could handle the noise of this motor without silent choice.... These motors take a little extra maintenance, but are really nice, tame motors....

Reversion happens at idle speeds, not at 3000 rpm. The silent choice adds to the problem. The newer risers are taller and seem to help, but I still wouldn't use the silent choice!
