I'll probably never figure out when and how a pen got on my boat, but I have a blue mark about 1+" long on the bench seat in the cabin.

I've tried mild cleaners and a "magic eraser"- it's still there.

I know lots of agressive cleaners can remove it but don't want the ink gone at the expense of harming the vinyl- what's the best thing to do?

I had good luck with the armor all cleaner wipes and elbow grease.


I don't know how I got ink either. (White vinyl)
Worked better than soft scrub, which i know is harsh.
I was surprised.

Plus they didn't dry funny.

ive had good luck with (don't laugh) scrubin bubbles house hold cleaner.also if that doesn't work wesleys tire cleaner it's a bleach base wash off asap and put on a good protectant on the surface.

I can relate to your problem. I had an interior that was just getting finished and had a small mark from a pen and didn't know how it got there. In any case after trying about everything I could find, I had made the mark lighter but it was still there. I left it lying out in the sun pondering what to do and when I went back to check on it later in the day lo and hehold the sun had taken it out. Hard to believe but true. You might give it a try. hair spray. One of my kids took an ink pen to the beige leather sofa and I kept spraying and wiping off airspray and it took it out completely.

Best cleaner is Baby Wipes. Works great on leather too.

I agree with the sun idea. My white swim deck and seats get stained purple from my cover when it gets wet. Its already in need of replacement but it looks even worse when its stained purple. Anyway, After being out in the sun for a day most of the purple stain is gone. Pretty weird.

I had a stain that I could not get out. My wife suggested some nail polish remover. It worked and didn't harm the vinyl.
